About

Mikayla is a freelance trumpet player and teacher based in Cleveland, Ohio.

She holds a Master’s in Trumpet Performance from Texas Tech University. During her time in Texas, she was a member of the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra Educational Brass Quintet and the TTU Graduate Brass Quintet and frequently performed in schools, assisted living facilities, and art festivals around the area. She was a member of the University Symphony Orchestra, and performed on their 2024 summer tour in Mexico City and Xalapa, Mexico.

Hailing from Oklahoma City, she earned a Bachelor’s in Trumpet Performance with a Nonprofit Arts Administration Certificate from Oklahoma City University. Sweet was a member of the cornet section in the Frontier Brass Band and and performed in the 2021 U.S. Open Brass Band Championships, earning 2nd place overall. During her time as a core member of the Masopust Polka Band, she regularly performed at the Yukon Czech Hall and other Oktoberfest events in the Oklahoma Metro. She was a member of the OCU Brass Quintet and held residencies at First Presbyterian Church and Westminster Church prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Committed to the generation of rising trumpet players, Mikayla serves as the Events Coordinator/Chair of the Emerging Professionals Committee for the International Trumpet Guild.
